A Lineboro man was flown by state police helicopter to the Maryland Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore last night after his car struck a telephone pole in front of 341 Old Bachman Valley Road in Westminster.

The driver, Robert Benson Corbin 3rd, 21, suffered internal injuries and was listed in stable condition, a Shock Trauma spokesman said.

Residents of the area where the accident occurred said Mr. Corbin was southbound on Old Bachman Valley Road in a 1993 Honda Civic when he went off the right side of the road and struck the pole.

Mr. Corbin was wearing a seat belt and the vehicle's air bag was activated upon impact with the pole, state police in Westminster said.

No other vehicles were involved, and the accident remains under investigation, police said.
