Hitchhiker assaulted and robbed

A 19-year-old Baltimore County man was assaulted and robbed near Westminster early yesterday by three men who had picked him up as he was hitchhiking on Interstate 795, state police reported.

Jason R. Blouse of the 200 block of Pittston Circle in Owings Mills told police he was picked up around midnight by three men who drove him around Westminster for several hours.

Mr. Blouse told police the men forced him from the car on Route 97 at Humbert Schoolhouse Road, assaulted him and robbed him of $120.

Police have no suspects.

POLICE

* Westminster: A Westminster woman reported Sunday that someone stole the rear license plate from her vehicle, which was parked near her James Street home. The loss was estimated at $35.

A Westminster resident told police Sunday that someone stole the soft top from his Jeep. The loss was estimated at $2,500.

A Westminster resident reported Friday that someone stole property valued at $56 from her East Main Street home.

FIRE

* Reese: Reese reponded to a trash bin fire on Old Westminster Pike at 4:16 p.m. Sunday. Units were out for 32 minutes.

* Westminster: Westminster responded to a brush fire on Liberty Street at 2:19 p.m. Sunday. Units were out for 20 minutes.

Westminster and Reese responded to a fire alarm on Gist Road at 12:45 p.m. Sunday. Units were out for 43 minutes.
