Swim lessons offered

July 19, 1993

Adults, children and infants can benefit this summer from swimming instruction held through August in the handicapped-accessible, Olympic-sized Harlow Pool at Western Maryland College.

The second session of swimming lessons begins today and continues for two weeks. The third session begins Aug. 2 and continues for two weeks.

Adults can enjoy aerobic exercise by signing up for Waterobics. Strengthening the heart and increasing joint mobility while reducing stress on the hips, knees, back and ankles are functions of this 10-week program, offered in the mornings on Tuesdays and Thursdays or Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.

Children 6 to 12 may attend the Elementary Phase program, which is divided into four progressive levels. All classes are held on weeknights for a half-hour.

The Preschool Phase features three progressive levels for children ages 3 to 5. Water Babies is a class for youngsters 6 months to 3 years.

The Preschool and Water Babies classes are offered in the mornings for a half-hour, Mondays through Fridays.

The fee for children's swimming instruction is $25 for eight half-hour lessons. Waterobics costs $35 for twice-a-week sessions or $45 for sessions three times a week.
