Cancer facility is opening thrift shop in Patriots Plaza

The Cancer Resource and Support Center is opening a thrift shop in Patriots Plaza in Pasadena.

Donations of clothing, furniture, collectibles, jewelry, toys, dress forms and store fixtures are being accepted now, and volunteers are needed.

The center also is planning two free lectures. On Wednesday, from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m., Jane Barss, a child and adolescent therapist, will discuss "Cancer in the Family: The Child's Response." The lecture will focus on how children respond to life-threatening illnesses.

On July 28, from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m., Linda Ford, a massage practitioner and breast cancer survivor, will discuss meditation and the holistic approach to well-being. Registration is required.

* Chesterfield: Burglars stole power tools and compact discs valued at $895 from a home in the 7800 block of Mansion House Crossing Road between 10 p.m. Sunday and 3 a.m. Monday.

* Pasadena: Burglars stole stereo equipment and other property from a home in the 1600 block of Honolulu Lane between 11 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. Monday. The value of the property was not known.
