Judge denies sentence reduction for a thief

July 13, 1993

A former Westminster man failed yesterday to get his five-year state prison sentence reduced on a pair of $300 thefts.

Carroll County Circuit Court Judge Luke K. Burns Jr. denied the request by Carroll Eugene Logue, 26, who began serving two concurrent 10-year sentences, with all but five years suspended, in April after pleading guilty to two counts of felony theft of more than $300.

The thefts involved involved tools and a pickup truck that was stolen Sept. 18 from Glenn's Repair Service on Green Street in Westminster.

Logue, in a letter to the judge, said he did not know the truck he agreed to drive for a friend was stolen.
