Woman pedestrian abducted, assaulted

A woman told police she was kidnapped and sexually assaulted Sunday night by a man who forced her into his car in Linthicum.

According to the police report, the woman was walking on West Edgevale Road near Belle Grove Road at 10:30 p.m. when a man drove up to her and forced her into his car. Taking her to a truck stop on Thomas Road, he tried to force her to perform several sexual acts while he assaulted her.

The woman managed to escape but was beaten on her head and body. She ran to a nearby home to call police, the report said.

Brooklyn Park High's robbed by gunman

A gunman robbed a Brooklyn Park convenience store late Saturday, county police reported.

Investigators said a man walked into the High's store on Church Street at 8:46 p.m. and demanded money from the clerk. After getting the money, he left the parking lot in a Ford Escort driven by another man.

Coast Guard changes Curtis Bay commanders

Capt. Ronald J. Marafioti recently assumed command of the U.S. Coast Guard Yard in Curtis Bay, becoming the 33rd commanding officer of the 94-year-old yard.

A 1966 graduate of the Coast Guard Academy, Captain Marafioti previously was assigned to the Resident Inspector's Office (RIO) in Tacoma, Wash.; as chief, Naval Engineering Branch, 7th Coast Guard District, Miami, Fla.; and as commanding officer of the West Coast RIO for the Fleet Rehabilitation and Modernization Project.
