Troopers try to check bat loitering at bank's ATM NORTH -- Manchester * Hampstead * Lineboro

July 12, 1993

Things were just a little bit batty in Hampstead this weekend.

In addition to responding to the usual fender-benders, smashed mailboxes and minor shoplifting offenses, troopers from the Westminster state police barracks were called about a bat hanging around a MOST bank machine in Hampstead.

The bat had flown away by the time troopers responded to the call.

"You know there's something wrong with a bat if it's flying around in the daytime," said a police spokesman with a laugh.

PUBLIC MEETING

* Tomorrow: The Manchester Town Council meets at 7:30 p.m. at Town Hall, 3208 York St. Information: 239-3200.
