Groundbreaking set for park facility

Carroll County will have a groundbreaking at Sykesville Park at 2 p.m. tomorrow. The new park will have six new ball fields and two multipurpose fields.

The county has a 50-year lease on the state-owned land. A total of $815,000 has been approved for improvements.

"This is an excellent example of how local and state government can work cooperatively to develop state land to meet the leisure needs of Carroll County residents," said Richard Soisson, director of the Department of Recreation and Parks.

The park is at Route 32 and Raincliffe Road. Information: 857-2103.
