Arundel High School thanks the community for supporting the Giant "Apples For The Students" program. Because of your efforts, the school was able to order two Apple Macintosh Classic II 4/40 computers. The school also bought an Image Writer II printer for the media center for desktop publishing and word processing.

The Ladies Auxiliary of the Anne Arundel County Volunteer Fireman's Association will hold a meeting at 7:30 p.m. July 13 at the Odenton Volunteer Fire Company on Route 175.

Dinner will be served by the Odenton Ladies Auxiliary.

Faith Community Church will sponsor a home school information seminar at 6 p.m. Sunday in the church hall.

The seminar is free, but registration is required in advance by calling 674-3027.

The church is at Waugh Chapel Road and Route 3 North, next to the fire station in Gambrills.

The Arundel Soccer Association, Inc. will hold fall soccer registration from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at Waugh Chapel Elementary School.

Local author Richard Stack and Josh the Wonder Dog will visit the Odenton library, 1270 Odenton Road, at 2 p.m. and 3 p.m. today. Stack, of Glen Burnie, is the author of "The Doggonest Vacation" and other children's books. His performance, one of the events in the library's Summer Reading Program, is free and open to preschoolers and first- through sixth-graders.

Registration is not required for the hourlong show, but seating is limited and will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. After the program, Stack will autograph his books.

The Gambrills Odenton Recreation Council's competition cheerleading squad, which won an honorable mention citation at May's Eastern Cheerleading Association Finals in Williamsburg, Va., begins practice in August and continues until the middle of March.

Members of the squad, which competed against 23 other squads in the Junior All-Star Division, are Stacey Cohen, Jennifer Monfirda, Jessica Cunningham, Kate Stoddard, Sara Higginbotham, Kristina Quinn, Michelle Hood, Julie Hodgson, Mary Herberger, Kerri Humelsine, Megan Dowling, Jenny Palmer, Alisha Hepfer, Ruthie Fisher, Angie Grant, Kerri Hodges, Vassi Kotsis, Katie Matheny, Mandi Lesak and Julie King.

The cheerleading commissioner is Kathy LeTourneau, and the coaches are Kendra Navarro, Jen Wilson, Shannon Quin and Kathy Palmer.
