Girl Scout leader

Evelyne Leach Emmart, a retired Girl Scout director, died June 22 in her sleep at Church Home in Baltimore. She was 95.

Born and raised in Baltimore, she lived most of her life in the Mount Washington area. Her husband, Carey Field Emmart, died in 1965. She moved to the Church Home nearly six years ago after a stroke.

She began volunteering with the Scouts in 1934, was a Scout leader and later director of the Girl Scouts' Camp Whippoorwill in Pasadena. Before retiring in 1970, she was the Scouts' camping director and president of the Northeast Chapter of the American Camping Association.

She graduated from the Samuel Ready Asylum for Homeless Girls and had a degree in home economics from what is now Towson State University.

She is survived by three daughters, Kathryn E. McQueen of Arlington, Va., Jane E. Robinson of McLean, Va., and Ruth Anne Davis of Sparks; 11 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Services were held June 29.
