Groundbreaking set for park in Sykesville SOUTHEAST -- Sykesville * Eldersburg * Gamber

July 01, 1993

In Thursday's Carroll edition of The Sun, the date of the groundbreaking for the Sykesville Park at Route 32 and Raincliffe Road should have been 2 p.m. Wednesday.

The Sun regrets the error.

Carroll County will have a groundbreaking at Sykesville Park at 2 p.m. July 17. The new park will have six ball fields and two multipurpose fields.

The county has a 50-year lease on the state-owned land. A total of $815,000 has been approved for improvements.

"This is an excellent example of how local and state government can work cooperatively to develop state land to meet the leisure needs of Carroll County residents," said Richard Soisson, director of the Department of Recreation and Parks.

The park is at Route 32 and Raincliffe Road.
