Foundation gets 3 pledges

The Columbia Foundation, an independent community foundation serving Howard County, received three more pledges to its million-dollar endowment campaign.

Joining a list of 31 businesses and individuals pledging to the endowment are Hearth and Home, the Manekin Corp. and Princeton Sports.

The Million Dollar Campaign is designed to give local businesses an opportunity to make a permanent gift to the community to improve the quality of life.

Pledges now total $753,300. The endowment's income is primarily used to support programs and services provided by the county's nonprofit human service, educational and cultural organizations.

The foundation awarded 39 grants totaling $304,300 in 1993.

Information: Barbara Lawson, 730-7840.
