Babe Ruth hit the first home run in an All-Star Game, connecting off left-hander Bill Hallahan of the Cardinals in the American League's 4-2 win in the first game at Chicago's Comiskey Park in 1933. National League manager John McGraw started Hallahan in an attempt to curb Ruth and Lou Gehrig, but he ended up walking an All-Star Game record five batters.
