33-year-old man accused of robbery, assaulting officer

A 33-year-old Glen Burnie man has been arrested on charges that he beat a pizza delivery man and assaulted a police officer who tried to arrest him.

Jeff Alan Passero of the 200 block of Baltimore Ave. was charged with robbery, assault, assault on a police officer, destruction of a police vehicle and resisting arrest.

Police said the incident began Friday about 12:30 a.m. when a Pizza Boli delivery man made a stop at a home in the first block of 5th Ave. S.E. in Glen Burnie.

When the driver arrived at the home, police said the suspect grabbed the pizza, shouted something about the Pizza Boli manager owing him money and hit the delivery man in the head.

The delivery man drove back to the take-out and called police, who found the suspect at Fifth and Bertha avenues.

After a brief chase, in which police say the suspect threw a bag of ice at a cruiser, denting the door, the man was caught. But police said they had to twice spray the man with pepper Mace before they could place him in handcuffs.
