Bleeding man, skull fractured, found walking on Log Chain 0) Road

An 18-year-old Elkridge man was seriously injured early yesterday during a fall or an attack, Howard County police said.

William Dale German, of the 6300 block of Montgomery Road, was flown by state police helicopter to the Maryland Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore, where he remains in serious but stable condition, a hospital spokeswoman said.

Police said that his skull was fractured.

Mr. German blacked out on a pathway at Thunder Hill and Log Chain roads, police said.

He told police he couldn't remember if he fell and struck his head on a rock or if someone attacked him.

Police said they recovered a bloodied rock in the area.

An anonymous caller notified police at about 9 a.m. yesterday that a man was bleeding from the head while using a pay telephone outside a Thunder Hill Road convenience store.

When police arrived, the man had left, but the responding officer

found the bleeding man walking along Log Chain Road.
