* Rear Adm. Draper L. Kauffman gave his farewell address todaas superintendent of the U.S. Naval Academy and saluted the day's 830 graduates as "the best educated class we have ever graduated." Adm. Thomas H. Moorer, chief of naval operations, gave the main address. -- The Sun, June 6, 1968.

* The Anne Arundel County Council passed a slot machine bill which will only allow the machines to operate in the county until May of next year. The bill is expected to be vetoed by County Executive Joseph W. Alton, who says the county would face a $2.68 million yearly loss in revenue. -- The Sun, June 17, 1968.

* Sixty Anne Arundel County playgrounds sponsored by the county Recreation Department will open July 1 and close Aug. 9. -- The Sun, June 27, 1968.
