1 killed, 1 wounded in city shooting

BALTIMORE -- An man was fatally shot and his nephe critically wounded around 11:30 p.m. last night while the men walked in the 1200 block of Holbrook St.

Police said Howard Wilmer, 35, of the 1100 block of N. Eden St., was shot in the torso and ran to the corner of East Biddle and Ensor streets before falling to the pavement.

His nephew, John Tillery, 23, also of the 1100 block of N. Eden St., was shot in the back and ran back to his home, where an ambulance crew found him sitting on the front steps.

Both men were taken to Johns Hopkins Hospital, where Mr. Wilmer died shortly after midnight.

Mr. Tillery, who was shot in the back, is listed in critical condition.
