The Brooklyn Park Youth Athletic Association will sponsor an Invitational All Star Softball and Baseball Tournament beginning July 2 at the fields on 10th Avenue.

The tournament is open to players of T-ball, boys' baseball through the 13-14 age bracket and girls' softball through the 11-12 age bracket. Play will be round robin. Registration fee is $125 per team.

Awards were presented to the sixth-grade class of Brooklyn Park Elementary School during its promotion exercises last Tuesday.

Marvin S. Greenberg Good Citizenship Award: first place, Ann Sosnowski; second place, Katya Choma and Stephanie See; third place, Deirdre Parker and Lisa Fraley.

Willard E. Tignor Helping Hand Award: first place, Toni Ashburn; second place, Amy Balonis; third place, Charles Fretwell and Aaron Catlette.

The Rev. Salters Burgess Humanitarian Award: first place, Brianne Milauskas; second place, Hannah Woods; third place, Carrie Zaruba.

School is out, and no doubt your children are looking for something to do. Plan to attend the magic show at 2 p.m. on Wednesday at the Brooklyn Park Library, 1 E. 11th Ave.

Professional magician Michael Chamberlin is returning with a bagful of comedy magic tricks.

This program is free and open to preschoolers and children entering grades one through six in the fall. Registration is not required for the hourlong show, but seating is limited and will be available on a first-come, first-served basis.

The St. John Lutheran Church Youth Group will sponsor a car wash from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. Saturday in the Arundel Federal Bank parking lot at Fourth Street and Patapsco Avenue.

Harbor Hospital Center news: Services for the OB/GYN patients has moved from the medical clinic site at the center to the Gruehn Professional Building on the fourth floor. The new facility will provide additional space to meet the needs of patients.

* The hospital's dermatologists will provide free skin cancer screenings from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday. Educational materials and sunscreen towelettes will be distributed. Residents of all ages are encouraged to attend.

The YWCA of Greater Baltimore will offer swimming lessons this summer at the North Linthicum Recreation Pool at Overlook Park.

This eight-week program will take place from June 28 through Aug. 20.

In these times of tight budgets and ever-increasing needs, our schools are turning to the community for additional support.

Brooklyn Park/Lindale Middle Junior High School is looking for citizens to help the media center by making a donation toward a partial or full periodical subscription or to send in used periodicals in place of a donation.

If you donate magazines you receive at home, they must be sent to the school on a regular as well as a timely basis.
