Fire destroys barn near county line

June 20, 1993

Units from four Carroll fire companies assisted Baltimore County in fighting a barn fire near the county line on Emory Road early Friday morning.

The fire destroyed a barn in the 5700 block of Emory Road in Upperco.

Douglas Myers, the barn's owner, said the fire also destroyed two trucks, equipment and a large quantity of hay.

The cause of the fire, said to be of "suspicious" origin, is under investigation by Baltimore County fire officials.

A barn less than a mile away burned down in March.

The fire was reported at 2:14 a.m. Equipment from Hampstead, Reese, Gamber and Manchester assisted Baltimore County at the blaze.

Mr. Myers said he was unable to estimate the damage to the 50-by-30-foot, vinyl-sided barn.

No one was injured in the fire.
