Police in Georgia said yesterday that, acting on a tip from Harford County investigators, they have arested a 42-year-old Augusta man believed to be involved in a multistate child pornography ring based in Edgewood.

The Georgia arrest follows Tuesday's indictment of a 35-year-old Edgewood man who police say is the leader of the network using computers to exchange information with other alleged pornographic collectors in at least five states.

Augusta authorities charged Terrance Lynn Wilcher with soliciting a child for indecent purposes. He was arrested Thursday during a raid of his home. Police reported seizing numerous child-pornography movies, undeveloped rolls of film, lists with names of children ages 13 to 17 from across the nation and a computer and equipment used to relay messages. Mr. Wilcher was on probation after serving two years of a 10-year sentence for a 1988 conviction on three charges involving sexual exploitation of a teen-age boy, court officials in Georgia said.
