Youth treated, released after crash on Route 482

A 16-year-old Manchester boy, who was trapped inside his car after it was struck broadside by a van, was released from the Maryland Shock Trauma Center after a 7:38 a.m. accident on Route 482 at Brodbeck Road yesterday.

State police said Kristofer Bryan Heefer, 3300 block of Lineboro Road, failed to grant right of way when he drove his 1984 Mitsubishi from Brodbeck Road into the path of a 1991 Ford van operated by Richard Dale Harford, 35, of Hampstead, traveling west on Route 482.

The youth was flown to the trauma center in the state police Medevac helicopter. Mr. Harford was not injured.

Police said the youth was trapped in the car for about 30 minutes and traffic on Route 482 was delayed by the accident.
