North County High grads given achievement awards NORTH COUNTY -- Linthicum * Ferndale * Brooklyn Park * Pumphrey



Congratulations to North County High School Class of 1993. Students attended commencement exercises at University of Maryland Baltimore County last Monday.

Shawn Moyer gave the valedictory address and Natalie Wass was salutatorian.

In addition, 84 students received awards and scholarships for their outstanding achievements.


Belle Grove Elementary School news: Sixth-grade students will attend promotion exercises at 10 a.m. today. An awards ceremony for the rest of the school will be at 9 a.m. tomorrow.


Brooklyn Park Elementary School news: Volunteers are invited to a luncheon on their behalf at 11:30 a.m. today.

Promotion exercises for sixth-graders will begin at 9:30 a.m. tomorrow. A class group picture will be taken at 9 a.m.

* Reminder: Class picnics will take place on Wednesday.


Park Elementary School news: A luncheon to thank volunteers for their time and efforts will take place today, as will the class dance for sixth-graders.

Promotion exercises will begin at 9 a.m. on Wednesday.


Brooklyn Park/Lindale Middle Junior High School news: Semester exams will begin today and continue through Wednesday. Students will report to school at normal time and be dismissed at 12:45 p.m. Lunches will not be served, but students are allowed to bring snacks.


North County High School news: If you have not registered for the North County High School Golf Classic, now is the time to do it.

This event begins at 7 a.m. June 25 at Bear Creek Golf Club, 2158 Littlestown Pike, Westminster.

Registration fee is $55 per golfer and includes greens fees, cart, continental breakfast, snacks on the course and a buffet after the tournament. Hole-in-one prizes also will be given at various holes. Registration must be completed by Wednesday.

Children are invited to "Dive into a Good Book" during the Library's Summer Reading Program from today until July 23.

This annual program is free and open to children entering grades one through six in the fall. Activities for preschoolers also are planned. Children can register at any time during the six-week program.

All participants will receive a free pass to the Baltimore Zoo. Read 10 books and receive a free Frosty coupon from Wendy's, read 20 books and receive a 7-Eleven Slurpee coupon or read 30 books and receive a coupon for a frozen yogurt at McDonald's.

Participants also can win: tickets to Busch Gardens and the Capital Children's Museum, passes for bowling or miniature golf, pizza at Little Caesar's or Chuck E. Cheese's, Mickey Mouse dolls, free cookies from Fuddruckers and activity books.
