Andrea Kraus, who had putting woes much of the round, made a 20-footer on the 17th green yesterday to beat Sandy Pelisek, 2 and 1, for the championship of the 62nd annual women's Metropolitan tournament.

This was a competitive match, with no more than one hole separating the two until the winning putt.

In her pre-match warm-up, Kraus was making all her putts, then could not take it to the course, as she included four three-putt greens in her tour. "I had been putting my head off and hadn't had a three-putt in weeks," Kraus said.

This was the 10th round of golf for Pelisek this season, and five of them came in this tournament. A two-time winner of the Women's Golf Association stroke-play championship as a teen-ager, this marked her return to the area golf scene.

"I think I got tired and my swing got 'lazy,' " Pelisek said of a round in which she had no birdies and some erratic strokes later in the round.
