* Carl Morris, 82, an abstract painter whose work echoed th forces and forms of nature, died June 3 following an earlier gallbladder operation at St. Vincent Hospital and Medical Center in Portland, Ore. His work was shown at museums around the country, among them the Whitney Museum of American Art and the Guggenheim Museum in New York City, the Art Institute of Chicago and the San Francisco Museum of Art.

* Dr. Shih-Chun Wang, 83, a neuroscientist and pharmacologprofessor at Columbia University, died of septic shock Sunday at Englewood Hospital in Englewood, N.J. His research led to a fundamental understanding of motion sickness and the development of drugs to prevent vomiting and other adverse reactions. It also opened windows on other kinds of deviations from normal functions and led to effective counter measures, such as drug therapy for hypertension.
