* Dave Brewer, Hammond, Jr., second base -- Brewer batted .370 (24-for-64) with five doubles, one triple and one homer. He had 15 RBI, scored 19 runs and stole eight bases. Brewer made two errors in 80 chances.

* Mike Cudzilo, Mount Hebron, Jr., third base -- Cudzilo batted .350 (21-for-60) with four doubles and 15 RBI. He made one error in 57 chances.

* Kevin Curtin, Glenelg, Jr., DH -- Curtin batted .480 (24-for-50) with 15 RBI and a .552 on-base average. He was 3-for-4 with two RBI in the regional final against Walkersville and 2-for-4 in the regional semifinal against North Carroll.

* Matt Cyran, Hammond, Sr., outfield -- Cyran batted .475 with five doubles, two triples and two homers. He knocked in 24 runs and scored 17 times. He stole 16 bases and walked 20 times. He had a .590 on-base percentage. As a pitcher he was 3-1 with a 2.63 ERA. He pitched 35 innings, striking out 26, walking 11 and allowing 28 hits.

* Mike Deming, Glenelg, Soph., catcher -- Deming batted .383 (23-for-60), including three doubles, two triples and two homers. He had 18 RBI and struck out only four times. Deming went 3-for-4 with two doubles and one RBI in the state championship game. He made only one error.

* Mike Goldberg, Glenelg, Soph., shortstop -- Goldberg batted .373 (28-for-75) with a league-leading 36 RBI and seven home runs. He also had five doubles and a triple and led his team with 27 runs scored. He was 2-for-4 with a homer and three RBI in the state semifinal. He made eight errors in 66 chances.

* Dave Gunter, Glenelg, Sr., outfield -- Gunter batted .316 (18-for-57) with four doubles and three homers. He had 21 RBI and scored 15 runs. In the state semifinal against Wicomico he went 2-for-4 with two home runs and four RBI. He made one error in 24 chances and had five assists.

* Greg Hylock, Mount Hebron, Jr., first base -- Hylock batted .446 (25-for-56), with four doubles, one triple and two homers. He had 17 RBI and scored 22 runs. Hylock made four errors in 92 chances. He used his speed to steal 27 bases in 28 attempts. As a pitcher he was 3-1 with a 2.63 ERA.

* Sean Lookingbill, Glenelg, Soph., pitcher -- Lookingbill went 6-1 with one save and an 0.57 ERA. He pitched 49 innings, striking out 73 and walking 20. He allowed 25 hits, only three for extra bases. He pitched two shutouts and three complete games. The left-hander's best pitch was a sharp-dropping curveball. He pitched a three-hit shutout over Wicomico in the state semifinal and a two-hit shutout over North Carroll in the regional semifinal.

* Matt Morraye, Glenelg, Jr., outfield -- Morraye batted .359 (28-for-78) with three doubles and one home run. The leadoff batter had 10 RBI and 22 runs scored and led his team with 10 stolen bases. The center fielder made one error in 28 chances.

* Kurt Weitzel, Centennial, Jr., pitcher -- Weitzel posted an 8-4 record with a 1.10 ERA. In 70 innings he struck out 99, walked 17 and allowed 49 hits. He pitched three games during the playoffs, including seven innings of a memorable 2-0, 13-strikeout eight-inning victory over Watkins Mill in the state Class 3A semifinal. Weitzel's triple won that game. He batted .325 for the

season and played shortstop when not pitching.
