Northeast High seniors collect awards PASADENA

Northeast High School's class of 1993 took its final bows Saturday, and a number of students walked away with awards for distinguished work in the classroom and a variety of extracurricular activities.

They included 24 students who received the Presidential Academic Fitness Award for seniors who have maintained a 3.3 grade-point average or better since ninth grade and scored in the 80th percentile on the Scholastic Aptitude Test. Those who received the award were Wendy Brackett, Aimee Bradford, George Buch, Amanda Cody, Shannon Davis, Kathy Dean, Michelle DeRidder, Brenna Doucet, Jason Farinelli, Dawn Fish, Shawn Fleming, Jeremy Funk, Melissa Ginevan, Sandra Haberny, William Harrison, Larena Hobbs, Wayne Hudson, Kimberly Jarrell, Stephanie Jones, Christopher Kelly, Kimberly Mondshour, Carmine Pelion, Benjamin Schmitt and Dawn Tabor.

Department awards were presented to Benjamin Schmitt, art; Pamela Routh and Aimee Bradford, business education; Adam Burch, Brandy Scott, Stephanie Jones and Shannon Davis, English; Kathy Dean, French; Shannon Davis, Spanish; Elizabeth Forsythe, home economics; Carmine Pelino, mathematics; Rachael Glass, choir; Heather Quimby, band; Karla Hornberger and Richard Knutsen, physical education; Victoria Dye, biology; Amanda Cody, chemistry and technology education; Jason Farinelli, physics; Dawn Fish, social studies; Andrea Luger and Chad Williams, vocational experience.

Other awards and scholarships were given to Jason Farinelli and Christopher Kelly, appointments to the Naval Academy; George Buch, an appointment to the Air Force Academy and a National Honor Society award; Adam Burch, a Baltimore Culinary Institute scholarship; Amanda Cody, a Capital Gazette scholarship and a National Honor Society award; Victoria Dye, a Western Maryland College scholarship; Jeremy Funk, the James E. Griffin Memorial, National Honor Society and John Paul Jones awards; Sandra Haberny, a University of Maryland Baltimore County scholarship and the Joseph A. Mirenzi Memorial and National Honor Society awards; Elizabeth Forsythe, the Harold Zastrow Memorial award; and Stephanie Jones, the Maryland Congress of Parents and Teachers award.
