Would-be robber 'sorry' for ruining teller's day

A man who claimed to be homeless tried to rob a Linthicum bank late Saturday morning, police said.

According to the police report, the man walked into the Maryland National Bank in the 200 block of Benton Ave. at 11:54 a.m. and handed the teller an envelope, on the back of which the robber had written that he had a gun and wanted all the money.

The teller, who police said "froze with fear," did not give the man any money. The man told her he was homeless and that he had "no choice" but to rob the bank.

He asked the teller to give him back the envelope, and she did. He told her he was "sorry for ruining her day" and fled.
