25 Years Ago (Week of May 26-June 1, 1968):

* Razing of mill housing in Daniels was begun on the order of company management. The company wanted the houses razed as an alternative to spending $750,000 to modernize them. Of the 90 families living in Daniels, 50 had already moved out, and 13 of the remaining 40 had given notice of their intention to move soon.

* A steering committee met for the purpose of organizing a Howard County Commission on Aging.

50 Years Ago (Week of May 30-June 5, 1943):

* Miss Doris L. Gerwig, former graduate of Ellicott City High School, was graduated from the University of Maryland School of Nursing with a B.S. degree. Miss Gerwig was also awarded the Janet Hale Memorial Scholarship to Teacher's College, Columbia University.
