The first Leroy E. and Irene B. Kirby Scholarship was awarded at Notre Dame Preparatory School to Carrie and Courtney Krug of New Windsor. Both are at Resurrection St. Paul School in

Catonsville.

Eleven students at Western Maryland College were inducted into Phi Sigma Iota, the international foreign-language honor society. They are Mahlia Joyce, Marielle Ainsworth, Rachel Snyder, Claudia Rojas, Mary Lynn Creek, Carolyn Kelsey, Jennifer Harding, in Spanish; Jenny Smith, Lisa Rossignol, Robin Lang, in French; Elizabeth Webster, in German.

Anne Six, a sixth-grader at Maryvale Preparatory School, was the second-place winner of the State's Attorney's 1993 Anti-Drug Poster Calendar Contest.

Mary Dixon, a housekeeper at Meridian Nursing Center-Loch Raven, is the recipient of the 1992 Corporate MEGA (Meridian Employees Go All Out) Award.

Robyn L. Murray, a student at Villa Julie College, has been selected as one of 19 outstanding students to serve in the Governor's Summer Internship Program in Annapolis.

Dolores Cauwels Snyder, a Western Maryland College master's degree alumna and a trustee of the college, received the college's Joseph R. Bailer Award for her contributions to the field education.

Brenda A. Hazard of Owings Mills, a student at Mount Saint Mary's College, has received awards for two of her drawings in the college's annual Student Art Exhibition.
