3 people injured in 2-car collision at intersection
Three people were injured early yesterday when two cars collided at an intersection in Glenwood, Howard County police said.
At about 7:30 a.m., a 1989 Chevrolet S-10 was southbound on Route 97 near McKendree Road when it went around the right side of a left-turning school bus, police said.
A Nissan Sentra that was heading west on McKendree Road began to cross Route 97 when it was struck by the Chevrolet, police said.
A 22-year-old Frederick man and a 24-year-old Frederick woman were in the Nissan, police said. One occupant was flown by state police helicopter to the Maryland Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore, and the other was taken to Howard County General Hospital for treatment, police said. Their names were not released pending notification of relatives, and their conditions weren't immediately available.
The driver of the Chevrolet, a 42-year-old Mount Airy man, was taken to Montgomery County General Hospital for treatment, police said.
Officers said they are investigating the accident, and it appears the Nissan driver may have been at fault by failing to yield the right of way. No charges have been filed.
