Kukoc completes Bulls physical

June 01, 1993|By New York Times News Service

CHICAGO -- Toni Kukoc, the Croatian star who is considered to be the best basketball player in Europe, has completed physical examinations given by the Chicago Bulls, said Jerry Krause, the team's director of operations.

Krause said that Kukoc, who was in Chicago over the holiday weekend but did not attend either Bulls-New York Knicks game, must now make a final decision on getting out of his contract with Benetton Treviso of the Italian league within a couple of weeks. That would enable the 6-foot-10 Kukoc to negotiate a deal with the Bulls beginning July 1.

It has been widely reported that Kukoc is ready to join the Bulls, who drafted him in 1990 and hold his NBA rights in perpetuity.
