Harbor Hospital seeks students as volunteers NORTH COUNTY

June 01, 1993

*TC Harbor Hospital Center is looking for high school and college students to serve as junior volunteers this summer.

The Junior Volunteer Program gives students who are at least 15 years old or have completed ninth grade a chance to learn skills in the health field from the end of June through the beginning of August.

Students work as few as four hours to several days a week assisting nurses, helping to feed or transport patients or working in the physical therapy unit or in one of the hospital's business offices.

Students also can earn community service credits toward graduation while helping the hospital.

Anyone interested in volunteering should call Ann Heil, the hospital's volunteer coordinator, at 347-3478.

The hospital is located just across the county line at 3001 South Hanover St.

Bandits with shotgun rob High's, hit worker

Two men, one armed with a sawed-off shotgun, held up a High's store in the 700 block of Church Street Thursday night, county police said.

Officers said the men walked into the store about 10 p.m. and announced the robbery.

When an employee opened the cash register, one of the men reached in and took an undetermined amount of money. On the way out, he punched another employee in the face, police said.
