The Americana Arts and Crafts Show will take place from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at the Howard County Fairgrounds in West Friendship.

Scheduled vendors will sell a variety of products, including country woods, folk art, doss, tole painting, baskets, floral arts, jewelry, clothing, pottery and children's books.

There will be demonstrations by artisans such as a blacksmith and a jeweler. Pony rides are scheduled. Door prizes will be awarded. Admission and parking are free.

Recycler to accept used building material

The Loading Dock, a nonprofit building supply recycler, will accept selected items from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the Alpha Ridge Landfill Recycling Center in Marriottsville.

The Loading Dock accepts latex paint, lumber, plumbing fixtures, doors, windows and other usable building materials to create affordable low-income housing in the community. Receipts for tax-deductible contributions are issued.
