HCC's High Tech Learning Expo to feature new education tools WEST COLUMBIA

Howard Community College will sponsor a free High Tech Learning Expo from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday.

The event will provide hands-on displays of recent technologies in education including:

* Interactive video programs in which computers create live-action simulations of lesson material.

* A talking computer for the visually impaired which reads material in nine synthetic voices.

* A career assessment program which queries the user to identify talents and interests and suggests suitable careers.

* A computer program to search for financial aid.

* High technology labs where students can explore career opportunities in technology, consult with faculty and tour labs for biomedical engineering, electronics technology,

biology and physics.

* Hickory Ridge: 7900 block of Guilford Road: Someone removed a screen from a kitchen window between 8:15 a.m. and 5:45 p.m. Wednesday.

* Town Center: 10400 block of Little Patuxent Parkway: A black 1984 Toyota Cressida was stolen between 8:30 a.m. and noon Wednesday. The Maryland license plates are TJG-670.

10000 block of Windstream Drive: A Burgundy 1988 Oldsmobile Cutlass was stolen about 11:30 a.m. Wednesday. The Maryland license plates are WEB-246.

* Wilde Lake: 5500 block of Green Mountain Circle: A red 1985 Honda Prelude was stolen Friday. The Maryland license plates are ZMZ-239.

6100 block of Turnabout Lane: A green 1980 Honda Accord was stolen Thursday. The Maryland license plates are ZMX-845.
