Centennial Park courses will teach adults, children the basics of fishing ELLICOTT CITY/ELKRIDGE

Howard County Department of Recreation and Parks has scheduled two fishing classes this month at Centennial Park.

Fly fishing will take place from 8:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. June 12. The class is designed for beginners to learn about basic fly-fishing tactics, equipment and fly selection. Cost is $4 a person; children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult.

Parent/child lake fishing, for children 6 and older, will take place from 8:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. June 20.

The event will cover spin-fishing tactics for freshwater fish. Cost is $6 a pair. Participants must bring a fishing rod, bait and fishing license if 16 or older.

Mount Hebron plans student registration

Mount Hebron High School, 9440 Route 99, will hold registration for any new students entering for the 1993-94 year from 8:30 a.m. to noon and 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. July 7.

*Ellicott City: 9400 block Baltimore National Pike: Someone damaged a Blockbuster Video sign between midnight and 8:30 a.m. Wednesday.

8300 block of Baltimore National Pike: Someone broke the driver's side window on a 1984 Nissan Sentra between 10 p.m. May 22 and 8 a.m. May 23, and stole five pagers valued at $65 each, a $225 programming handset, and a $60 engine part from under the hood.
