Day care appeal hearing postponed indefinitely

A county Board of Appeals hearing requested by a couple wishing to turn part of a house into a day care center has been postponed indefinitely.

Myrick and Caryn Clark, who own a house on First Avenue east of M Street, had sought to turn the first floor into a center for no more than 15 children.

In February, the county denied their request for a special exception for the center and a parking variance.

An administrative hearing officer ruled that a day-care center would generate too much noise, that the proposed parking area would be too close to neighbors and that the county's traffic engineering division felt the sight distance for motorists entering and leaving the property was not adequate.

The Clarks appealed the decision, and a hearing was scheduled for yesterday.

However, the appeals board said that Ms. Clark asked for a delay so that she could work on legal issues.

3 PCP drug arrests made on B&A Trail

County police arrested three people on the B&A Trail Tuesday night and charged them with narcotics violations.

Officers received a tip that several people would be selling PCP on the trail. The officers, who had a description of the trio, followed them onto the trail and into the woods, where the arrests were made, the police report said.

A search of the three suspects turned up 1 1/2 ounces of liquid PCP and a small amount of PCP flakes.

Daniel Michael Williams, 29, of the 900 block of Oakwood Road in Glen Burnie and Paul Edward Redden, Jr., 29, of the 1500 block N. Jupp Road in Glen Burnie, were charged with possession of PCP.

Steven Mitchell Colley, 23, of the 300 Edgewood Road in Linthicum, was charged with possession with intent to distribute PCP.
