A Mass of Christian burial for Officer Craig J. Simms, a four-year veteran of the Baltimore Police Department, was to be offered at noon today at All Saints Roman Catholic Church, 4408 Liberty Heights Ave.

Officer Simms, who was 28 and lived on Oakfield Avenue, was killed Saturday when his motorcycle hit a car on Northern Parkway while he was off duty.

He had been assigned to the Northern District after serving briefly in the Northeastern District.

Earlier, he had worked as a driver and guard for Loomis Armored Inc. and as a guard for Pinkerton Security Services after service in the Army as a military policeman.

Born in Baltimore, he was a 1983 graduate of the Polytechnic Institute.

Officer Simms was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police and the Vanguard Justice Society.

He is survived by his parents, John and Eleanor Simms of Baltimore; three brothers, Aaron, Brian and Darryl Simms, all of Baltimore; and two sisters, Teresita Simms of Baltimore and Vanessa Simms-Bailey of Randallstown.
