Former county student inducted into clinical research society

Dr. Peter George Traber, son of Peter and Florence Traber of Columbia Town Center, has been elected to the American Society for Clinical Research. The induction was held May 2 in Washington.

Dr. Traber is the chief of the Division of Gastroenterology at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia.

He attended Glenelg and Mount Hebron High Schools and graduated magna cum laude from the University of Michigan on a football scholarship with a degree in biochemical engineering in 1977.

Dr. Traber also served as assistant professor of medicine at the University of Michigan, where he conducted research and received several federal grants.

He is married to Dr. Karen Traber, a graduate of Atholton High School.

* Hickory Ridge: 10300 block of Hickory Ridge Rd. Someone pried around the frame and broke out the passenger side window of a 1987 white Pontiac Grand Am between 2:30 p.m. Saturday and 7:15 p.m. Monday. Quarters were stolen from the car.

Wilde Lake: 5200 block of Wind Mill Lane: Someone stole a $120 12-speed, Huffy Free Spirit mountain bicycle from a garage between 7:30 p.m. May 18 and 3 p.m. Saturday. The bike is black with white speckles. The words "fast back" and "free spirit" are written on it in orange-red lettering.
