NEW BRITAIN, Conn. -- Tony Rodriguez broke a 12th-inning tie when his single to center scored Mike Beams, and the New Britain Red Sox (12-27) completed their three-game sweep of the visiting Baysox (21-16) yesterday with a 2-1 victory in a Double-A Eastern League game.

Beams led off with a single to left. Bill Norris followed with a single to the opposite field to advance Beams to third. Baysox pitcher Rafael Chaves intentionally walked Scott Bethea to load the bases and set up the game-winning run. Chaves pitched three innings, gave up one hit, one run, two walks and struck out three for the loss.

The Baysox's Tim Holland doubled in the eighth to send the game into extra innings and extend his hitting streak to 14 games.

The Red Sox scored first in the seventh when Scott Hatteberg scored on Beams' ground out.
