*Ella H. Pierce, C.P.M., who is currently the purchasing agent for Baltimore, has been elected to serve on the National Association of Purchasing Managment's 1993-1994 board of directors. On the board, Ms. Pierce will represent NAPM's District 5, which covers the states of Delaware, Maryland, Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina and most of Pennsylvania.

*Freed and Associates, a Baltimore-based advertising and marketing communications firm, has been named agency of record for Ron Bortnick Ford, the newest Ford dealership in the Washington metropolitan area.

*The Bomstein Agency, a Washington-based advertising agency, has been selected to provide services for Chapman's Landing, a planned community in Charles County.

*Maryland Media Associates Inc., a Baltimore-based public relations firm, announced it will provide services for Safe Harbors Business Travel Group Inc. and The Baltimore Body Shop.

*Security Administration Services Inc. a Baltimore based provider security services, is changing the Security Guard Divisions trade name from Security Personnel Service to Security Patrol Services.

*The Baltimore Association for Retarded Citizens Inc. recently was awarded the 1993 Organization Award from the Mid-Atlantic Region of the National Rehabilitation Association. BARC was selected from the five-state member region for outstanding provision of services and employment opportunities to persons with mental retardation.

*Cafe Drubay, a French espresso and wine bar, has opened at the Village of Cross Keys.

*Houlihan Lokey Howard & Zukin, a national specialty investment banking firm, has opened a Washington metropolitan office at The Corporate Office Centre, 1650 Tysons Blvd., Suite 565, McLean, Va., 22102.

*Advanced Visuals Inc., specializing in marketing/visual support materials, has opened at 8822 Orchard Tree Lane in Towson.

*The Sager Center for Personal Power has opened at 101 S. Main St. in Bel Air.

*Annapolis Computers, a full-service computer and repair center, has opened an office at 1510A Caton Center Drive in Arbutus.

Kudos

*Sandoz Pharmaceuticals Corp., of East Hanover, N.J., announced that J. Scott Masterman, a Baltimore native, has received its 1992 Rookie of the Year Award. Also, Brian D. Henderson of Crofton received the 1992 Regional Hospital Award.

*Inter-City Products has named Norman Long of Sykesville to its Arocaire/Comfortmaker Operations' Summit Club for outstanding sales performance during the past year. He was one of four sales representatives in the top 10 percent of the sales force and also received the Peak Performers award for exceeding 1992 sales quotas.

*Tydings & Rosenberg announced that Paul Walter, senior partner, was recently appointed to the American Bar Association Standing Committee on Specialization.
