Deborah McCrimmon, a fifth-grade teacher at Friends School, has been selected to participate in "Maryland: A Cultural and Social Mosaic," a three-week summer institute sponsored by the Maryland Historical Society and funded by the National Endowment for the Humanities.

Four local students have been elected to the Phi Beta Kappa chapter at Goucher College. They are Donna Care of Sykesville, Celeste Ferrer and Kimberly Jones of Timonium, and Maureen Langmead of Baltimore.

Nanette Tamer, an instructor in the English department at Villa Julie College, has been awarded a scholarship by the University of Delaware for a year of full-time study for a doctoral degree in English.

Qamar Schuyler, a Mount Hebron High School senior, has been named one of 500 finalists in the 1993 Presidential Scholars Program.

Jane Harrison and Del. Howard P. Rawlings were honored at a reception by the Maryland Low Income Housing Coalition for their work in affordable housing.

Firmin DeBrabander, of Timonium, a junior at Boston College, has been elected to membership in Phi Sigma Tau, a national honor society.
