Critics select Greenfield

May 21, 1993

Phil Greenfield, a free-lance writer and frequent contributor to The Sun for Anne Arundel County, has been selected to attend the ninth annual Van Cliburn International piano competition as a fellow of the Music Critics of America Institute later this month in Fort Worth, Texas.

Mr. Greenfield was among 10 critics chosen from across the country to attend the competition from May 28 to June 2, said William Goodfellow, chairman of the association's education committee.

During the four-day symposium, Mr. Greenfield will attend workshops on music criticism and artistic competitions, he said. The institute sponsors such symposiums several times a year to raise standards among music critics, Mr. Goodfellow said.
