BALTIMORE CITY BALTIMORE — 2 women slain at city apartment

BALTIMORE -- Two women believed to be related were fatally shot last night at their home in the 1400 block of W. Saratoga St., police said.

Police had found no witnesses to the double slaying. A motive was not apparent.

Georgia Hill, 49, and Michelle Alston, 31, who shared a first-floor apartment in a house, were taken to the Maryland Shock Trauma Center where each died within an hour of the 10:38 p.m. incident.

Homicide detective Walter Akers said Ms. Alston apparently was sitting on the front steps when someone shot her once in the chest. He said the assailant then shot Ms. Hill four times in the upper body as she stood in the hallway.

Police believe a revolver was used because they found no spent shells.

Detective Akers said nothing in the victims' background gave any indication why they were shot.

Police were to continue the investigation today.
