Clothing worth $2,000 stolen from Laurel store

A man posing as a customer in a Laurel woman's store made off with nearly $2,000 worth of clothing Monday as a clerk tried to stop him, county police said yesterday.

Police said the man walked into Marianne Plus in the 3400 block of Fort Meade Road about 10:30 a.m. and began pulling clothes off their hangers. He fled with an estimated 45 dresses as a clerk ran after him and then jumped into the passenger seat of an older model burgundy Dodge Colt driven by another man.
