Attend the Spring Breakfast Seminar Thursday at the Fort Meade Officers' Club.

Sponsored by the West Anne Arundel County Chamber of Commerce, the seminar is planned from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. Deanna Jean Brown will discuss the "25-Hour Day." The cost is $15 for chamber members, $25 for nonmembers.

The Fort Meade Retired Officers' Wives Club is sponsoring a luncheon at 11 a.m., June 1 at the Fort Meade Officers' Club. Melvena Reese will demonstrate line dancing, and new officers will be installed. Reservations are required by noon May 27. Call your area representative, or call (410) 551-8826 or (301) 776-4048. Waugh Chapel Elementary School volunteers are invited to the Appreciation Luncheon on Tuesday, May 25, from 11:15 a.m. to 12:45 p.m.

Archbishop Spalding High School senior Ji Kim's watercolor and chalk piece, "Heads of This City," won the "Best of Show" prize at the school's first juried student art exhibit.

The show featured ceramics, drawing, printmaking and oil and watercolor paintings.

Towson State University art teacher Jane Bates was the guest juror.

Ms. Kim, who will attend the Pratt Institute next year, also took top honors in the drawing category for a humorous portrayal of Mount Rushmore.

Other winners included Kerri Switzer for her ceramic, "Essence Of Spring;" Rachel Bell's intaglio print of the Phoenix; Heather Cornelius for the oil painting, "Among Friends and Fishes;" and Lori Edge for a watercolor. All the winners were seniors.

Other pieces that received mention were textured self-portraits drawn by freshmen Allison Tirdil and Hope Stewart; an intaglio print by sophomore Steve Shaffer; and senior Kelly Batton's glazed ceramic vase.

The Greater Odenton Improvement Association will meet at 7:30 p.m. tomorrow at the Odenton Fire Hall on Route 175.

The topic for the meeting will be a county Health Department cancer-prevention campaign called "Learn to Live." The meeting is open to the public.

Local attorney D. Gregory Howard will discuss probate, from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m., tomorrow at the O'Malley Senior Center, 1275 Odenton Road.

Mr. Howard is to provide information about estate planning and minimizing taxes and professional fees.
