2 arrested in Shipley's Choice and charged with burglary

County police called to Shipley's Choice early Saturday by residents who saw a suspicious rented truck in their neighborhood arrested two men as they were pulling away with property from three houses in the community.

Police charged James M. Lefaivre, 36, of Tahoe Circle in Owings Mills and Marty D. Broadnax, 41, of the 1700 block of Waverly Way in Baltimore, with burglarizing three homes.

Police said they stopped a truck driven by the two and found items from homes in the 700 block of Helmwood Court, the 500 block of Red Bluff Court, and the 700 block of Cool Glade Court.

Marijuana patch found behind school

A county police detective uncovered Friday a cultivated marijuana field growing in the woods behind a Severna Park elementary school.

Detective Mike Chandler discovered the field containing about 30 small marijuana plants about 8:45 a.m. Friday morning behind the Oak Hill Elementary School at 34 Truck House Road. Police said the field was about seven yards into the woods from the school's playground.

Police do not know who planted the field.
