Looking for treasures at a great price? Plan to visit the Brooklyn Health Association's flea market from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at the center, 300 Hammonds Lane.

If you have treasures to sell, rent a 10- by 10-foot space for just $5 or donate your items to the health association. Cakes and other food will be sold. The association also will raffle an afghan, donated by Minnie Grady. Purchase your raffle tickets at the center, where the afghan is on display. For more information, call 222-6620.


Brooklyn Park Elementary School news: Fifth-graders will spend this week taking the Maryland School Performance Assessment Program test.

* Kindergarten students will visit the zoo on Friday.


Brooklyn Park/Lindale Middle Junior High School news: The spring concert and PTA meeting are scheduled for 7 p.m. tomorrow in the auditorium. PTA members will hold elections for the PTA executive board and vote on the 1993-1994 budget. Afterward, the chorus and band will entertain parents.

* The eighth-grade "farewell dance" is planned from 7:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. Friday. Boys must wear shirts will collars and ties and girls, dresses. Tickets are $4.


North County High School news: The spring sports banquet will begin at 6 p.m. tomorrow at Michael's Eighth Avenue.

Tickets are $8 per person and can be purchased during lunch periods today.

* The band will leave Thursday for a competition in Toronto, Canada. On the way, band members will visit Niagara Falls.

Students and chaperons return Sunday.


The Olde Brooklyn Park Improvement Association will meet at 7 p.m. tomorrow at Brooklyn Park Elementary School, 200 14th Ave. Evelyn Stein, of the Anne Arundel County Health Department's Public Affairs Office, will discuss a cancer prevention program called "Learn to Live." Learn how to make healthy changes in your lifestyle. Everyone is invited.

* Goldberg's Liquors will sponsor a wine-tasting seminar at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, May 25, at Castellos Pasta and Seafood Restaurant on Potee Street. Taste the wines of Californian Robert Mondavi. Tickets are $10 per person, and seating is limited. Proceeds will benefit the Olde Brooklyn Park Improvement Association. Sign up at the association meeting or call 789-1234 for more information.


Harbor Hospital Center news: The center's respiratory department will hold an informal meeting at 6 p.m. tomorrow. The next smoking cessation program begins next Tuesday. The eight-week program helps smokers quit. Smokers will learn behavior modification, stress management, relaxation techniques, and will receive nutritional/exercise counseling and cardiovascular risk profiles. There is a fee. * The hospital's Cancer Center is offering tips to avoid skin cancer. Apply a sunscreen or sun block, and wear lightweight, long-sleeved shirts or use an umbrella.
