75 Years Ago

* More stringent laws are being urged in the issuing of liquor

licenses in the upper portions of Anne Arundel County. Saloons and resorts driven out of Baltimore County have reputedly located in Brooklyn, Curtis Bay and other parts of the fifth district of Anne Arundel County. -- The Sun, May 2, 1918.

* The Anne Arundel County Board of Education has adopted a general plan, as a budget-saving device, to drop teachers whose classes do not have 40 students in attendance. They also discontinued the office of county truant officers for the duration of the war. -- The Sun, May 9, 1918.

* Yesterday, a handsome granite monument was erected in the Naval Cemetery as a memorial to the late Professor Charles A. Zimmerman for 34 years as leader of the Naval Academy band. -- The Sun, May 9, 1918.
