Hayes-Williams picked for county business panel

County Executive Robert R. Neall has appointed Janice Hayes-Williams of Pasadena to the county's Minority Business Advisory Council.

A graduate of Bowie State University, Ms. Williams will serve on the panel through June 1995. The council provides a communication channel between the county government and the minority business community.

Ms. Williams has 12 years of experience in the administration of business contracts, including jobs with World Computer Systems Inc., General Sciences Corp. and the NASA/Goddard Space Flight Center.

4 young men charged with destroying property

County police charged four young men with theft and destruction of property after cars were broken into in Elizabeth Landing early Wednesday.

Arrested were Eugene Paul Kress III, 19, of the 400 block of Valiant Circle in Glen Burnie; William Tierney, 19, of the 2400 block of Marbourne Court in Baltimore; Ryan Edward Cook, 18, of the 7900 block of Southerland Court in Pasadena; and William Dexter Allison, 18, of the 700 block of Broadview Blvd. in Glen Burnie.

They also were charged with unauthorized use of a car.

According to the police report, officers were called to Beyda Court at 3:27 a.m. and found two men running from a car. The officers caught them and, a short time later, two other men.

Witnesses showed the officers a 1988 Ford Mustang parked on the street with the ignition popped out. A 1980 Chevrolet Corvette was found with the steering column damaged, the police report said.

Both cars had been stolen earlier in the evening.

* Chesterfield: A 14-year-old boy was charged with breaking into a vacant home in the 3500 block of Brickwall Lane Tuesday. Police said neighbors called them when they saw a door open and lights on in the home at 9:21 p.m. Police found the boy hiding in a downstairs basement. He was released to his parents.
