Storm forces suspension of county track Track and field

The Howard County track and field championships were suspended by thunderstorms after the completion of two events yesterday at Oakland Mills High School.

The championships will be Track and field

resumed today at 1:30 p.m.

"We'll try to get the rest of the meet completed [today]," said Oakland Mills athletic director Ken Klock.

The Oakland Mills boys 3,200-meter relay team finished first in 8 minutes, 18.5 seconds. Glenelg was second at 8:32.6, and Centennial finished third at 8:33.4.

The Glenelg girls won the 3,200 relay in 10:10.5 with Oakland Mills second (10:16.5) and Atholton (10:17.1) third.

The meet was in the middle of the 100/110 hurdles semifinals when the threat from lightning forced officials to suspend the competition.
